There are ways of addressing certain kinds of people when speaking to them formally or informally. If you have ever heard someone's name in an anime followed by a recurring suffix, you might not really catch it and just go along with it. But, here are what those suffixes really mean?
"Kun," is used to address men who are younger or the same age as the speaker.
"San," is something like Mr. or Miss, it is used when speaking to someone with a title of respect.
"Chan," is used when addressing a child when calling them by their birth name.
